Barpak is located in the northwest of Gorkha, around 45 km from Gorkha Bazaar. It sits at an altitude of around 1,900 meters, perched on a green hillside with stunning views of the Ganesh Himal, Buddha Himal, and Manaslu range.

Accessible by jeep or local bus from Gorkha, the road to Barpak is steep and winding — but filled with scenic beauty and fresh mountain air.

🌍 Why Barpak is Famous

On April 25, 2015, Barpak became known to the world as the epicenter of the 7.8 magnitude earthquake that shook Nepal. Hundreds of lives were lost, homes were destroyed, and the village was reduced to rubble. But what followed was even more powerful — the people of Barpak chose to rebuild, together.

Barpak offers breathtaking panoramic views of snowcapped peaks. The best viewpoint is Pushu Danda, where you can watch the sunrise over the Himalayas. From here, you can even start the Barpak–Laprak–Manaslu trekking route — a less-crowded and peaceful alternative to mainstream trails.
